Styles 4 Kids, Cultural Awareness and Esteem Through Haircare
You may not think that a simple hairstyling lesson could have such a big impact. It's important to a child's self image, their confidence and how they feel about themselves. 10 years ago hairstylist Tamekea Swint founded Styles 4 kid, a nonprofit organization that provides textured hair care services and education for parents or caregivers that don't have experience styling naturally textured hair. For transracially adopted and foster kids or biracial kids, the self esteem boost they can get from that cultural connection is life changing.
