STEVENSON RANCH (FOX 11 / CNS) - Amid triple-digit temperatures, a brush fire erupted in the hills above Stevenson Ranch Monday, quickly blackening 50 to 75 acres, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The third-alarm fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. near the 26000 block of Pico Canyon Road.
Air crews were sent along with ground crews to battle the flames. No structures were immediately threatened, but some workers at an oil field in the area were evacuated.
The temperature in the area was reported at 106 degrees when the fire broke out, with winds of about 15 mph.
