Hundreds of small earthquakes strike Riverside County this weekend

A series of small earthquakes struck the Riverside County city of Glen Avon this weekend, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The strongest registering at a 3.3 magnitude around 4:36 p.m.on Sunday about 2.5 miles northwest of Glen Avon.

According to Dr. Lucy Jones of the USGS, she said the seismic activity is part of "the Fontana trend" and called the events "ordinary, common California quakes."

There were no immediate reports of damage. While there are many variables involved, geologists say damage does not usually occur until the earthquake magnitude reaches somewhere above 4 or 5.
