Several agencies battling brush fire in Chino Hills
CHINO HILLS, Calif. (FOX 11) - Multiple fire agencies are battling a blaze dubbed the 'Star Fire' in Chino Hills on Sunday afternoon whch threatened several homes.
According to Chino Valley Fire, the 'Star Fire' burned approximately 154 acres. A home on 2000 block of Mira Mote Court has been destroyed.
The 'Star Fire' is about 65% contained and forward progress has been stopped, authorities said.
There are no evacuation orders or injuries.
Chino Hills Pkwy between Falling Star and Chino Ave are closed. Chino Ave between Chino Hills Pkwy and La Sierra are also closed.
The various agencies that are responding, including Cal Fire, Los Angeles County Fire and the Chino Valley Fire District, according to authorities.
Chino Hills Mayor Cythia Moran posted this video to Facebook showing the fire burning very close to some homes.
In a video posted on social media by user AcostaBeMe, the brush fire appears to be approaching a large home in the area.
The fire was spreading from Falling Star Lane and Chino Hills Parkway. It reached 50 acres, Chino Valley Fire tweeted shortly after 2 p.m.
Authorities do not know how the fire started and are asking to please avoid the area.
