3 killed in wrong-way crash on 101 Freeway in Ventura County
VENTURA, Calif. (FOX 11) - Three people were killed early Thursday after a wrong-way driver on the 101 Freeway in Ventura County caused a head-on crash, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol responded just after 12 a.m. on the southbound side of the 101 Freeway, north of the 126 interchange. Crews arriving found a head-on crash caused by a wrong-way driver, with one vehicle over on its side.
Authorities said the driver was going northbound on the southbound side, doing up to 100 miles per hour.
The driver slammed head-on into another vehicle with a young couple and a dog inside.
All three people were confirmed dead at the scene, authorities said.
Their identities were not immediately released.
