More mysterious drones spotted in Long Beach

New video shared with FOX 11 shows more possible drones flying near Long Beach Friday night.

Earlier this week, FOX 11 also received cellphone video of a possible drone flying in Temecula close to Camp Pendleton.

"The public has the right to know what is flying about the skies and what the purpose is," said Bryan Dirkes, who captured video of the object.

People on the East Coast have recently reported similar sightings. Videos have surfaced of reported mysterious objects flying above New Jersey.

SUGGESTED: Mystery drone sightings keep happening in California, New Jersey

"Iran launched a mothership, probably about a month ago, that contains these drones," said Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew.

Several lawmakers have come forward, asking for an investigation into the reports. However, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Biden administration both insist there’s no danger.

"Our initial assessment here is that these are not drones or activities coming from a foreign entity or adversary," said Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh.

On Saturday, FOX 11 met with Steven Katz from Flying Lion in Redondo Beach. Flying Lion is the largest drone operating service in Los Angeles. They work with police departments, commercial groups, and private security companies.

"I do believe there’s drones flying, but I wouldn’t consider it spooky," said Katz.

Katz showed FOX 11 some of their drones.

SUGGESTED: Multiple alleged drones spotted over New Jersey

"Every one of the drones has an FAA license plate on it, and it also transmits signals," said Katz.

With a roughly 3-foot diameter drone, flying 400 feet in the air, Katz demonstrated that a drone with an infrared camera couldn’t capture enough detail for people to be worried.

"This is not Superman," said Katz. "You can’t even see past a sunroof, you can’t see into buildings. Even at this distance, you can’t read a license plate at night."

FOX 11 also interviewed Kenneth Wells, a now retired longtime pilot for Southwest Airlines.

"I don’t think [these drones] are a big deal to be honest," said Wells. "If these were drones being used by other countries like Iran or China, I think they’d be trying to be invisible or trying not to be seen, so they would not have navigation lights on them."

The FBI arrested a man Tuesday boarding a flight for China out of San Francisco International Airport.

The Chinese national is accused of illegally flying a drone over the SpaceX facility in Vandenberg, Calif. and taking photos.

SUGGESTED: Mysterious drones spotted in SoCal

President-elect Donald Trump posted to Truth Social Friday night saying, "Mystery drone sightings all over the Country. Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge. I don’t think so! Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!! DJT."
