A Corona Baseball Player Now Faces Possible Double Murder Charges
CORONA, CA (FOX 11) - Brandon Martin is a 22 year old from Corona who was, by all accounts, a bright MLB prospect. He was a standout player at his high school. 3 years ago he was a top draft pick of the Tampa Bay Rays. He played infield. In 2014, because of what were described as "personal matters", he missed the entire season.
Now, Brandon Martin is a multiple murder suspect.
Police say that on Tuesday they were called to the family home because of threats being made by Martin. They came out and decided to take Martin to a Riverside Psychological hospital for evaluation. Doctors at that hospital released him Thursday afternoon.
Later that night police got a call a man wasn't breathing at the family home. When they got there they found Martin's dad and a sub-contractor for ADT dead. Martin's uncle was critically injured.
Then Friday morning, Brandon Martin was spotted in a white pickup truck. There was a short street and foot pursuit afterwhich Martin was arrested. He was taken to a hospital for a dog bite he got during the foot chase.
What happens next, according to Sgt. Brent Nelson is that when doctors feel Martin can leave the hospital he will be booked and jailed. Then the DA would determine charges.
