A FOX 11 News IN DEPTH Special: RFK Remembered
(FOX 11) - 50 years ago Senator Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated here in Los Angeles. It happened at the Ambassador Hotel which is now a collection of schools called the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools.
This week's show is filled with people who were there when RFK died. We even have Robert F. Kennedy Jr. telling his poignant story of finding out his dad had been shot.
In the FIRST SEGMENT of this week's FOX 11 News IN DEPTH, we hear from Boris Yaro - a Los Angeles Times photographer who shot the iconic photo of RFK laying mortally wounded on the kitchen floor of the hotel. We also here from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in my own one-on-one interview just hours before the taping of this show.
In SEGMENT TWO, famed activist Dolores Huerta joins us in studio. Huerta and her brother-in-law Caesar Chavez co-founded the United Farm Workers union. Huerta was involved in the Kennedy California campaign. She considered RFK a friend. She stood next to him during his final speech claiming victory in the California Democratic Presidential Primary.
In SEGMENT THREE, former FOX 11 news producer Tim Harrell was in the kitchen when RFK was gunned down. He saw it all. Why was he there? You'll be surprised to find out.
In SEGMENT FOUR we look at the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools. This is a complex of educational facilities on the same real estate which was previously occupied by the Ambassador Hotel where RFK was assassinated 50 years ago.
This week's episode of our "WHAT THE HAL?" podcast is all about the RFK assassination and the murdered Senator's legacy. It's now available on iTunes, Google Play and other podcast platforms.
