AT&T will refund customers overcharged in 'cramming' scam

The federal government is ordering the telecommunications giant to pay back $7.75 million dollars in refunds and fines for so called "cramming."

That's when a third party company charges customers for unauthorized services.

In this case - it was a phony directory assistance service that AT&T allowed to charge its customers nine dollars a month.

The scam mostly targeted small businesses.

AT&T says refunds will be forthcoming within 90 days.
