Beached panga carrying dozens of bales of marijuana located in Malibu

A beached panaga carrying dozens of bales of marijuana was located in Malibu Saturday.

The Coast Guard says there were 41 bales onboard weighing approximately 577 pounds.

Saturday around 6:30 a.m. Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watch standers responded to the beach after receiving a report of an abandoned panga.

A helicopter was launched to conduct a search for any possible people in the distress. It was not immediately known if anyone was in or around the boat.
