Bumble Bee To Pay $6-Million For Worker Cooked To Death In Tuna Oven

(FOX 11 / CNS) Bumble Bee Foods LLC has agreed to pay $6 million in connection with a criminal case stemming from the death of a worker who was trapped in an industrial oven at the company's Santa Fe Springs plant.

The settlement will require the San Diego-based company to pay $1.5 million to the victim's family, along with $3 million to install new ovens that won't require workers to go inside and $750,000 each to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Environmental Enforcement Fund and for fines, penalties and court costs.

The company is expected to plead guilty to a misdemeanor count in January 2017 after the money is paid.
