Crews battling large fire at medical building in East Hollywood
LOS ANGELES - L.A. firefighters are battling an aggressive and heavy fire at a medical clinic in East Hollywood Friday night.
Fire officials say the Vermont Family and Women's Clinic located at 1211 N. Vermont Avenue has a two-story section and it's on that second floor where heavy fire is showing.
The fire broke out at about 7:48 p.m. and quickly spread throughout the building with heavy smoke blanketing the area.

The fire got so intense that LAFD says firefighters had to exit the roof where they were battling the blaze and immediately began a defensive operation. Officials say firefighters will not be going inside the building for the remainder of the firefight, which will delay the knockdown while crews try to access pockets of fire from the exterior.
No other buildings are exposed at this time and no injuries have been reported, LAFD said.
The immediate area is closed off and the public is being asked to avoid the area.

Approximately 115 firefighters are on scene battling this fire. Officials say crews are making food progress in the defensive mode.
The blaze has been classified as a 'Major Emergency' structure fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
