Crews contain 11-acre wildfire burning in Thousand Oaks

A wildfire that broke out in Thousand Oaks has now been contained by firefighters but not after scorching approximately 11.4 acres, according to Ventura County Fire Department officials.

The fire burned near Potreo Road just west of Wendy Drive.

According to the Ventura County Fire Department, a few structures were threatened but none were lost.

Potrero Road was closed between Wendy Drive and Hidden Valley Road. It has since reopened. There were no evacuations, officials said, and no injuries were reported.

The fire department says residents will see heavy smoke in Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park.

Firefighters are working with two helicopters to cool down any remaining flareups.

Fire crews will remain on scene throughout the night so fire officials are urging residents to be cautious when driving through the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
