Driver killed when car plows into Arcadia floral shop

A driver was killed on Thursday morning when he crashed into a flower shop in Arcadia, police said.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Las Tunas Drive and Live Oak Avenue.

According to Arcadia Police Sergeant Ernest Lopez, the driver of a red-colored sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed down Live Oak Ave. when he lost control of his vehicle. The red sedan traveled over the center median across Las Tunas Dr. into the Main Floral building.

Investigators believe that the driver may have been attempting to make a left turn at Live Oak Ave. at the time of the crash.

Fire and medical personnel responded to the scene and extradited the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The adult male driver, who has not been publically identified, was reportedly driving a rental car at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
