Emerging fashion trends during the COVID-19 pandemic
LOS ANGELES - The pandemic has changed the way we dress and FOX 11's Vanessa Borge shares emerging fashion trends as we adjust to the new normal.
Many people are working from home in pajamas and sweatpants with no shoes and no makeup. And now, before you leave the house, you have to check for your wallet, keys ...and your face mask, which is all part of our new normal.
As more people wear face masks, the essential accessory is now getting its own accessory: face mask chains!
They keep your mask secure on your neck - it won't go missing or touch a dirty surface.
Miami Mask Chains makes the trendy accessory in any color to match your face mask.
Or get them customized with these Chez La Roche chains.
So many masks and nowhere to store them - companies like Stoney Clover found a fun fix with these storage pouches!
There's also a shift in the beauty industry because face masks cover your mouth.
According to market research company, NPD Group, sales of false eyelashes rose 15% in May.
In addition, mascara sales grew 11% and eyebrow products jumped 5%.
Conversely, sales of lip products fell 5% in May. After all, nobody wants lipstick smudges inside their masks.
That hit was from head to toe --- sales of men’s and women’s dress shoes plunged 70% in March and April, according to NPD.
It’s all about comfort now: Slipper sales doubled in April.
The here and now comes with new shopping habits -- for your face to your foot.
On April 25, many businesses started to see an uptick in sales. Why? That was the day Americans started receiving their stimulus checks.
So, expect to see another bump in sales once the federal government approves another round of stimulus checks.
