More than 2 million Fisher-Price Snuga infant swings have been recalled across the U.S. after the deaths of five infants in the past decade.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Fisher-Price jointly announced the recall on Thursday over the risk of suffocation. Between 2012 and 2022, there have been reports of five deaths involving infants ages 1 to 3 months when swings were used for sleep, according to the agency’s notice.

"In most of those incidents, the infants were unrestrained, and bedding materials were added to the product," the notice stated.

Consumer safety officials stressed that the swing should never be used for sleep and bedding materials should never be added.

"Consumers should immediately remove both the headrest (by cutting the tether) and the body support insert from the seat pad before continuing to use the swing for awake-time activities," the notice added.
