George Floyd: A Final Goodbye

After two previous memorial services, Tuesday's funeral was the final goodbye to George Floyd. There was a lot of emotion in the Fountain of Praise Church in Houston.

The family of George Floyd very emotional when they got to the podium. One family member saying how much he was going to his brother and thanked God for giving him a Superman to look up to.

There were tough words with most aimed at police agencies. The Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner announcing immediate action in his city like banning strangleholds. He said he would sign an executive order as soon as returning to City Hall.

Inside the church were many dignitaries including representatives from the Congressional Black Caucus like Representative Karen Bass from our area. Former Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden visited with the family privately Monday.

During the service, he said via video, "Why in this nation are too many black Americans waking up knowing they can lose their lives in the course of just living their life. Why does justice not roll like a river or righteousness like a mighty stream? Why? Well ladies and gentlemen you can’t turn away. You must not turn away. We can not leave this moment thinking we can once again turn away from the racism that stings at our very soul. ”

Monday, more than 6,300 people stood in line to pay respects outside the church. On this day, only about 500 were allowed inside for George Floyd's funeral.
