Good Samaritan helps officers in Brea nab suspects involved in high-speed pursuit
BREA, Calif. - An Orange County man took the law into his own hands… making a citizen’s arrest after a wild pursuit and crash in Brea.
Officers with the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Chino station were pursuing two carjacking suspects Saturday afternoon. The suspects led officers on a high-speed pursuit starting in Chino… going from city to city before crashing their car in Brea.
Police say the suspects lost control of their vehicle and slammed into a brick wall on Valencia Ave. near Sandpiper Way.
After the crash the suspects tried to make a getaway by fleeing from officers on foot. But a Good Samaritan who witnessed the crash took matters into his own hands.
“I put on the big boy voice and yelled ‘get on the ground’, and they did it thank God. There was no confrontation, nothing physical. I patted them down to make sure they didn’t have anything and told my wife to call 911,” said Good Samaritan Jim Sickles.
Sickles is a former security guard who happened to be in the area with his wife at the time of the crash.
Police and paramedics quickly got to the scene and took the two suspects into custody. The suspects sustained minor cuts to their face as a result of the crash.
