Lainie Kazan on car accident, Playboy and 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2'

LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - Lainie Kazan, a singer and actress with a long-list of credits throughout her career, stopped by Good Day LA to discuss "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" -- a sequel to her 2002 hit.

The movie follows the Portokalos family again -- bringing the characters back together for an even bigger and Greek-er wedding.

"I asked to read the script before I accepted it," Kazan said about her role. "So I went in a room and read it. It's all about me! I went 'Wow, this is fantastic.'"

Kazan was recently involved in a head-on crash in the Valley in which she suffered six broken ribs and a broken collarbone.

Ironically, it happened in front of a Greek restaurant.

During her appearance on Good Day LA, Kazan said today she's better and was "only left with a bad knee."

Kazan once served as an understudy to Barbara Streisand and finally got to go on 18 months into the run. Her career took off from there.

Some of her career highlights include posing nude for the October 1970 issue of Playboy, guesting Dean Martin's variety series dozens of times as well as "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."

"I did it for art," Kazan said of her Playboy issue. "I thought the body was a beautiful, artistic piece."
