LAPD, FBI capture man suspected of fatally stabbing roommate at Starbucks in Studio City
LOS ANGELES - A man who is suspected of fatally stabbing his roommate and was on the run was captured by LAPD officers and FBI agents at a Starbucks located in a strip mall in Studio City Friday.
LAPD homicide detectives and the FBI's Fugitive Task Force were working around the clock to find the person involved in a deadly stabbing at a North Hollywood hostel. A man and his roommate were involved a "mutual combat," kind of fight earlier in the week. The suspect struck the victim once in the leg with what authorities believe was a pocket knife. The victim used a chair leg in the altercation.
The victim, only described as a man in his 30s, was taken to a hospital where he died, police said.
The suspect was on the run and was tracked to a Starbucks location at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Vineland Avenue just before 12:00 p.m. where law enforcement had the area surrounded.
The suspect even struck up a conversation with FOX 11's Gigi Graciette moments before he was taken into custody.
The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released.
