Lithonia woman wins car, wheels stolen days later

A Lithonia woman's luck just ran out.

Karla Wiley won a brand new 2017 Camaro in a raffle at a North Carolina casino, but just days after bringing it home, someone stole the wheels and left it sitting on landscaping pavers in her driveway on Hillvale Cove Court.

"I'm more than angry," said Wiley. "Angry ain't even a word for what I am right now. I'm steaming."

Wiley had planned to drive her car to the Department of Motor Vehicles to get a tag for the new car Wednesday morning, but instead found herself calling police to report the theft.

"I don't know what to say or what to do. I don't even know what anybody can do," Wiley said.

She was not the only one the thieves hit early Wednesday morning. A man who lives on nearby Hillvale Circle also reported the rims and tires stolen off his Dodge.

Both said they are frustrated with the recent crime in the neighborhood from car and home break-ins to other types of theft.

"People work hard for what they get," explained Wiley. "Even though I won this, it was mine and karma [is] coming back. They can believe that too. Karma [is] coming back."

According to a neighbor's surveillance camera, the theft at Wiley's house happened around 2:30 Wednesday morning. The suspects were in a light-colored sedan.

Wiley asked anyone who recognizes the car to call DeKalb Police.
