Lunada 'Bay Boys' surfer group 'fort' to be demolished

The Palos Verdes Estates City Council is discussing how to remove a stone 'fort' along the Lunada Bay shoreline. This structure is a 30-year old party spot for the Bay Boys, a group of local surfers with a troubled reputation for harassing, intimidating and even physically assaulting out-of-towners.

Alleged attacks that have been reported include throwing rocks, having beer poured on people, tires on cars being slashed and physical attacks in the water.

Local police reports show that the fort has repeatedly been a site of alleged drug and alcohol use over the years.

Those in favor of removing the 'fort' say it will give the general public better access to the beach. The California Coastal Commission has confirmed the removal will not cause erosion of a nearby bluff. However some locals are concerned about who would pay for all of this.
