Man armed with knife killed during deputy-involved shooting in Victorville
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX 11) - The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly deputy-involved shooting in Victorville.
On September 4th around 9:30 a.m. deputies responded to the15800 block of Heatherdale Rd. after the fire department requested their assistance with a man who was possibly suicidal and had overdosed.
The sheriff’s office says a female caller told officials a man took multiple prescription pills, was armed with a knife and said he no longer wanted to live.

Suspect in custody after assaulting, shooting at San Bernardino County Sheriff´s deputy
When deputies arrived on scene they found the male suspect and the female caller inside a room in a house.
Deputies tried to de-escalate the situation by asking the suspect to drop his knife. Officials say the man refused their commands and started approaching officers. As the man inched towards them a deputy deployed a Taser. The Taser was ineffective and the armed man attempted to come closer to deputies; the sheriff’s office says that’s when a deputy-involved shooting happened.
The suspect was struck and taken to a local hospital where he later died. The suspect’s name has not been released, but the sheriff’s office says he is 62-years-old.
The shooting is under investigation. This was the second deputy-involved shooting to happened Wednesday morning in Victorville.
