Man catches thief who stole pajamas off porch by posting video online

A package of pajamas is pilfered from a porch in Wyandotte after the homeowner used the power of social media to track the suspect down.

Patrick Franey's grandmother wanted to know if he got the pajamas she sent him.

FOX 2: "What kind of pajamas were they?"

"I don't know, my grandma said camouflage," he said.

One look at the footage from their at home surveillance system - showed why he never saw them.

FOX 2: "What do you think of a guy who does that?"

"Pretty low," Franey said.

Take a look at the video - a guy walks by the house on 18th Street in Wyandotte, spots the package on the porch and he takes off. But not for long.

Minutes later he comes back, this time he comes back hiding under his hoodie. The pajama pilfer grabs the gift and takes off.

But this 19-year-old who happens to be studying cyber defense knew what to do next.

He used social media on Sunday to make the sleepwear suspect a star by slapped his security video on YouTube.

"They said most banks don't have images this clear," he said.

By Monday, police had their man as someone was able to identify 24-year-old Grant Orr of Lincoln Park. Police spotted him in his neighborhood.

And Franey says the brazen bandit, who had done this before ended up confessing to police, is now sitting behind bars - and unable to make bail.

As for Franey...

FOX 2: "Do you want some new pajamas?"

"That would be nice," he said.
