Man stabs woman in back in broad daylight in East Hollywood

Police are searching for a man who was caught on camera stabbing a woman multiple times in broad daylight in East Hollywood last week.

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department said the stabbing happened around noon on Jan. 18 near Santa Monica Boulevard and Edgemont Street. Investigators said the man walked up behind a woman who was walking with two of her friends, then stabbed her, before running off.

Nearby surveillance footage captured the attack. The video showed the man approaching with his weapon drawn before stabbing the woman twice in the back. He then ran off across the street.

FOX 11 spoke with the woman who is recovering from the stabbing.

"I was screaming, ‘What happened to me? What is happening?’" she said.

The man is described as a Hispanic man, possibly in his 30s, standing at about 5-foot-6 and weighing at about 180 pounds with dark hair and brown eyes. Below is a photo of the possible suspect:

According to police, the man ran to the Vermont/Santa Monica MTA station.

The LAPD released a picture of the man Wednesday in an effort to identify him. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact the LAPD at 213-484-3631.
