Officers escort son of injured officer to first day of kindergarten
ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - An officer who remains in a coma from a standoff in June couldn't make it to his son's first day of Kindergarten. So, his son was escorted by some officers from Kevin's squad and the Orlando police chief instead.
The Orlando Police Department released video on Friday of Officer Kevin Valencia's son, Kaleb, starting kindergarten. Valencia is still in a coma and is receiving treatment from Shepard's Center, a Spinal Cord & Brain Injury Rehabilitation center in Atlanta, Georgia.
In Valencia's absence, Orlando Police Chief John Mina and Kevin's squad were there to escort Kaleb on his first day of school.
Officer Kevin Valencia was was shot in the head during a standoff with law enforcement two months ago.
