Officials: Suspected gunman in deputy shooting may have been involved in more crimes

Authorities believe the suspected gunman in a deputy shooting may have been involved in other crimes and are asking victims to come forward, it was announced Wednesday.

Rhett Nelson, 30, of Utah is suspected of shooting 13-year Los Angeles Sheriff's Department veteran Deputy Joseph Gilbert Solano at a Jack in the Box in Alhambra on Monday.

Nelson was arrested on Long Beach Tuesday. Nelson entered a church around 10 a.m. when he called his father and spoke about murder, Sheriff's officials said.

Officers with Long Beach police observed a vehicle matching the suspect's vehicle description in the driveway in the 2400 block of Granada Avenue located near the intersection of Vernon Street where they took him into custody without incident.
