3.0-magnitude quake strikes off Malibu coast

A 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Monday morning off the coast of Malibu, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. 

USGS says the quake was reported at 7:03 a.m.

The epicenter was about eight miles south of Malibu and had a recorded depth of about six miles.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. While there are many variables involved, geologists say damage does not usually occur until the earthquake magnitude reaches somewhere above 4 or 5.
