Here’s how much you could save in your state by ditching pricey coffee runs

A new study shows how simply skipping your daily coffee runs could affect your savings account and save you more money.

Restaurant manufacturer Affordable Seating analyzed the average price of a regular cappuccino in each state and calculated how much money a person could save by reigning in on their daily coffee habit, based on grabbing a morning coffee before work 5 times a week.

Oklahoma residents could save the most money

By the numbers:

The data found that Oklahoma residents could save the most money if they sacrificed buying a daily coffee at an average of $6.42 per coffee. Residents in the Sooner State could save $1,669.20 every year, which could go toward rent, a down payment on a house or a vacation.

The data found that coffee lovers in Hawaii could save the second-highest amount of money by cutting out expensive coffee runs, priced at $6.25 per cup. This saved Hawaiians a staggering $1,625.00 each year.

Massachusetts ranked third, with residents spending $5.71 for a cup of coffee. In this state, they could save $1,484.60 a year by skipping their daily coffee purchase.

What they're saying:

"Coffee isn’t just a beverage for many, it’s a chance to catch up with loved ones, something to post on social media and a chance to experiment with new flavors whilst getting that caffeine high," Zach Kanoff, the SVP of chain accounts from Affordable Seating said in a statement. "This study highlights however, where Americans are paying vastly larger amounts for their morning cup of coffee and highlights a broader issue of food and drink inflation. It’s interesting to see which states are craving coffee more than others, even if that means shelling out more money for the same product."
