Campus security increased after multiple fights break out at South L.A. high school
LOS ANGELES - Students and staff at John C. Fremont High School in South Los Angeles can expect a heavy police presence on campus after multiple fights broke out Tuesday.
Students say rumors began circulating about the fights last week and that the initial brawl broke out between two girls that began at about 11:30 a.m.

Bottles and debris were thrown at police who attempted to stop the fight between the girls. No officers were injured, but a school police officer was hit in the head, police said.
The altercation caused a chain reaction as fists went flying and several other fights sparked across campus.
School police requested assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department and the school was placed on lockdown as more students became unruly.
An estimated combination of 30 LAPD and school officers, some dressed in riot gear, were called in to stop the chaos. Police resorted to using pepper spray to break up some of the fights.
One student was taken to a hospital with a minor injury.
Eight students were detained and eventually released to their parents.
