Security video shows woman defend herself against armed intruders
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Three armed men broke in, but only two made it out alive after their unexpected encounter with tiny woman who had a gun.
Gwinnett County Police released infrared home surveillance video hoping someone will recognize the men who got away. Police said they kicked in the door of a home on Spring Drive in the early hours of September 16 and went room to room looking for cash. Instead they found a 36-year-old restaurant owner still in her pajamas ready to aim and put up a fight.
"She did not know the men and it's clear that they weren't invited into her home. She simply exercised her right to defend her property," said Cpl. Deon Washington.
Cpl. Deon Washington said the short man in the dark clothing wearing a shoulder length wig was 28-year-old Antonio Leaks of Atlanta--the intruder who died when the woman fired her weapon in the dark. The woman calmly dialed 911 after the other armed intruders fled. Her roommate emerged on camera after the ordeal was over. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward to anyone who helps police catch the gunmen who survived.
"It's clear they are armed and dangerous and they will likely do this again if they're not arrested. We're certain with video this clear, someone will recognize these guys and help us get them in custody," said Cpl. Washington.
