Stolen car pursuit ends with shots fired, standoff in Pacific Palisades home
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - The pursuit of a stolen vehicle begun by officers from the LAPD's Southwest Station led to the garage of a Pacific Palisades home today, where the man driving the SUV was arrested following a more than six-hour barricade.
The chase started at 1:44 a.m. and ended when the man crashed the stolen vehicle into a parked car at Lombard Avenue and Earlham Street, fired shots at officers and ran into a garage, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Norma Eisenman said.
The suspect's shots did not strike anyone and officers did not return fire, Eisenman said.
Police were able to evacuate the family from the home near Will Rogers State Beach.
Officers deployed tear gas at daybreak, but the man did not come out.
SWAT officers then entered the garage shortly before 8 a.m., found the man trying to hide inside a vehicle, and took him into custody, police said.
