Varsity Tutors hosting classes taught by celebrities
LOS ANGELES - Parents are looking for ways to keep their children both engaged and learning while staying at home. What better way to do that than having their favorite celebrity tutor them?
These online celebrity-led classes are live, fun, and free!
Julianne Hough, the "Dancing With the Stars" superstar is now your teacher.
“Her class is high energy! She gets everybody up and moving,” Brian Galvin said. He organizes and moderates the celebrity classes.
The star classes are part of an online tutoring company, Varsity Tutors.
Homeschooling just isn't cutting it for kids. They miss a well-rounded school day and celebrity classes help fill the void.
“There are assemblies, field trips... there’s a music class, [and] a gym class. Getting celebrities who have the name but also deep expertise would replicate that and get kids really excited,” he added.
They've already had successful classes with a range of subjects and celebrity tutors.
“We had Miyam Bialick who’s local. We know her from “The Big Bang Theory.” She played a neuroscientist. She actually is a Ph.D. in neuroscience.”
Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman is teaching some fitness classes as well.
“These are designed to be really interactive classes are scheduled for about half an hour. Then we do some Q and A where students can ask questions of their favorite celebrities. We got selfie time when everyone can get a pic with their favorite celebrity too!”
