Woman, elderly mother and dog killed in intersection crash
WEST HILLS, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - A 31-year-old woman and her 69-year-old mother, along with their black Labrador, were struck and killed by a SUV in a tragic accident in West Hills, but the driver stopped at the scene, authorities said.
It happened about 8:20 p.m. Monday, at the intersection of Roscoe Boulevard and Jason Avenue, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division. Their names were withheld pending
notification of kin.
The daughter and the dog died at the scene and the mother died en route to the hospital, according to the LAPD.
"The SUV was traveling westbound on Roscoe and at the point where the accident occurred, two lanes turn into one," the desk officer said.
"Meanwhile, the two women and their dog were heading south and were crossing the intersection in an unmarked intersection," the desk officer continued. "That's where the SUV hit them."
The desk officer said the location was dark and the driver told investigators he just didn't see them. The SUV driver stopped at the scene and was not cited or arrested.
"There was no criminal action on his part," the desk officer said. "It was simply a tragic accident."
