Peaceful protests, marches continue in Los Angeles and Orange counties

Thousands of people again took to the streets of Los Angeles and Orange counties on Saturday, as at least 30 protests were scheduled to call for justice and condemn police tactics for the deaths of George Floyd, who died while in police custody in Minneapolis, and Breonna Taylor, who was killed during a police raid of her apartment in Louisville.  

BLM-LA file suit against city, LAPD chief over detained protesters

Black Lives Matter-LA filed suit today in federal court against the Los Angeles Police Department and its chief, alleging the recent mass detention of more than 2,600 peaceful protesters, held handcuffed on buses without access to  bathroom facilities, water or food, was a violation of rights under the U.S. and California constitutions.

Witness: George Floyd didn't resist arrest, tried to defuse things

The changes are part of a stipulation posted online between the city and the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, which launched a civil rights investigation this week in response to the death of George Floyd. The City Council was expected to approve the agreement Friday.
