California's gas prices reach new record high

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose eight-tenths of a cent Sunday to $4.665, moving within 4 cents of the all-time high.

SoCal gas prices hit highest amount in nearly a decade

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose to its highest amount since Oct. 25, 2012, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Average price of gas in SoCal surpasses $4.20

The primary reasons for the sharp price increase since the start of the year are "higher oil prices and higher demand as the economy reopens and more people began returning to work and travel," said Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California.
