Dog thrown by woman in disturbing viral video returns home

A pug that was seen being thrown on the ground in a disturbing viral video has been located and returned to its owners, police said.

The dog, named Benny, was originally taken to a shelter and found to be uninjured and in good health by a local vet, the Fairfield Police Department posted on its Facebook page.

According to FOX 40, he was then released back to his owners -- including Brandi Chin -- the woman identified as throwing the dog in the video.

The video, originally posted Dec. 19 on Facebook, is home surveillance video taken in Fairfield, Calif. It was posted by user David Shields and reportedly shows Chin violently throwing the pug on the ground.

An animal abuse investigation was opened -- and the woman was interviewed off-camera by FOX 40.

Chin told the station the video was released by friends she was fighting with that day. She said she "feels terrible" about what happened and that "her actions were in the heat of the moment."

According to the police department, the case was handed over to the Solano County District Attorney's Office, and that agency could still charge Chin with animal abuse.
