LAPD asking for alleged victims of USC gynecologist to come forward

A bombshell allegation Tuesday is that USC was warned about Dr. George Tyndall before he was hired full time at the university.

A complaint filed Tuesday says that while Tyndall was a medical resident at USC Medical Center in 1988, he abused a woman who was taking part in a clinical trial for an abortion pill.

Tyndall allegedly made the woman strip completely naked, made inappropriate comments, and penetrated her with ungloved fingers. The patient complained to the medical center at the time.

However, despite that complaint, the following year USC hired Tyndall as a full-time gynecologist at the USC student health center, a post he held until he was quietly allowed to resign in 2017 amid continued complaints of sexual harassment.

Attorneys representing former USC students filed three additional lawsuits Tuesday alleging gross sexual misconduct and sexual assault. That brings the total number of lawsuits to 13.

Since the scandal broke, more than 350 students have contacted a University hotline established to receive complaints and information about Tyndall.

Any woman who believes she has been assaulted by Dr. Tyndall or has information about him should not call the USC hotline of the campus police. They should immediately contact the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery/Homicide-Special Assault Section at (213) 486-6910.

The hotline established by USC is (833) 889-8833.
