LAPD employee tests positive for coronavirus

The Los Angeles Police Department on Thursday confirmed a second employee who has tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual is a member of the department's senior staff and is expected to make a full recovery, according to LAPD.

The individual was not identified but authorities say he was showing flu-like symptoms a week ago and has been resting at home. LAPD says all of the work spaces associated with that individual are being disinfected and that work is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

No further details were immediately known.

LAPD encourages all residents to follow local and state guidelines of hygiene and social distancing.
