Large group of scooter riders takeover streets of Beverly Hills, Century City mall

An unusual street takeover hit the west side Saturday night from Santa Monica to Beverly Hills.

Beverly Hills police had a wild scene on their hands as a large group of scooter riders took over downtown streets around midnight.

The riders numbering in the dozens took the rented lime scooters down city sidewalks- until police descended on the area.

Most of the riders fled, leaving scooters strewn and abandoned all over the place.

Police impounded the scooters, which had apparently also been used in a takeover earlier at the Century City mall.

Cellphone video shows a large group of scooter riders rampaging inside the parking lot and the mall.

The video was posted to social media emblazoned with the message: "This is how you take over LA with scooters."

The entire video is restricted to the Los Angeles area.
