Nail salon in Tustin moves operations outside to keep doors open amid coronavirus closures

TUSTIN, Calif. - A nail salon in Tustin has moved its operation completely outdoors in order to remain in compliance with new state guidelines released last week amid a surge in coronavirus cases in California.

Ritz Nails pitched tents in front of their establishment Friday morning and nail technicians wheeled their carts outside. 

“They’ve done a great job here. They’ve gone through more than what is expected in all the rules,” one customer said.

The company's outdoor operations include additional health and safety measures, including partitions between nail technicians and customers, mask requirements and nail stations spaced out in order to comply with social distancing.

The company was required to shutter its doors at the beginning of the pandemic. They went through great lengths in order to be in compliance when they were allowed to reopen a few weeks prior and quickly adjusted when Governor Gavin Newsom announced that nail salons would be required to move operations outdoors.

According to the owners, some customers have driven from as far as San Diego to get their nails done.
