Palos Verdes High School student tests positive for COVID-19, district superintendent says

A student at Palos Verdes High School has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, it was announced Monday. 

In a letter to the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District community, Superintendent Alex Cherniss wrote:

“We have a report from a parent of a student at Palos Verdes High School who has tested positive for COVID- 19.  We believe this report to be credible.  The District has notified the Los  Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH) and we are awaiting further guidance. The  District will take direction related to this situation and individuals from DPH. Please continue to  follow state and federal guidance related to coronavirus.”

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District was one of the first districts to announce school closures amid the coronavirus outbreak in Southern California.
