Security guard shoots three men, one fatally, in Lynwood
LYNWOOD, calif. (FOX 11) - An attempted robbery turned deadly after a security guard shot the three would-be robbers.
Detectives responded to the 10900 block of Long Beach Blvd. in Lynwood around 4:45 a.m. after reports of shots fired in the parking lot near the Auto Zone.
The security guard told deputies he was sleeping in his car when three men approached him. In fear that he was going to be robbed the guard opened fire.
One man died on the scene, the others were taken to a hospital where one remains in grave condition.
The security guard quickly called police to report the incident. Officials say he is a licensed security guard and had authority to carry a weapon.
The guard was taken into custody for questioning, and the investigation is continuing.
