Transient arrested for trying to push boy off bridge in Ladera Ranch

A woman was arrested after authorities say she tried to push a boy off the Crown Valley Parkway Bridge in Ladera Ranch.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of O'Neill Drive and Jardines around 4 p.m. Friday after reports of a subject possibly attempting to jump.

Once on scene deputies determined that a 23-year-old female transient, identified as Stephanie Redondo, assaulted two boys who were running in the area.

Officials say the boys were part of the Capo Valley High School cross country team.

In a release the Orange County Sheriff’s Office says Redondo grabbed one of the boys and attempted to push him over the bridge safety railing.

Luckily, the victim and additional cross country team members fought off the suspect, the department said.

None of the juveniles were injured during the incident.

Redondo was arrested on attempted murder charges and has been booked into the Orange County Jail. Her bail is set at $500,000 and she is expected to be arraigned August 27.
