Wednesday's Child: Special needs teen Jemariah needs a permanent home
LOS ANGELES - Jemariah (2005) is a happy and friendly teen with some special needs. He is very active and requires a great deal of support and supervision. He enjoys all kinds of food, especially tacos, salad, and cheez-its. He loves the outdoors and likes to strut his skills with a basketball. We’re told that Jemariah loves to color and being read to, so we decided to have him try his hand at painting at the Color Me Mine in Whittier, CA.
New experiences and activities can be a hard adjustment with some children with special needs; but Jemariah got off to a good start even though this was his first time painting pottery.
Jemariah is in good health and as you can see, he likes to dress presentably and is always very tidy and organized. He is considerate and kind with other children his age. He often uses a whisper or low tone of voice to get his thoughts across and makes his needs known through short sentences.
Jemariah receives services from the Regional Center and is learning to express himself and communicate with words. He can follow directions on a one-on-one level.
We are looking for a patient and highly committed family who will advocate for Jemariah’s needs and provide the stimulation and structure he needs in which to learn and to thrive.
