12,000 customers without power in West LA
LOS ANGELES - A power outage was reported Friday evening in the Sawtelle and Westwood neighborhoods, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power.
Nearly 12,000 customers are without power. According to the LADWP three of their vaults are affected.
They say the power outage was caused by a mylar balloon. In a tweet the department said the balloons got caught and severed power lines, 'dropping onto higher voltage lines and impacting a power distribution station in the area.'
They say power could be out for the next six hours.
