A man fatally shot himself during a confrontation with Burbank police officers, authorities said Friday.

The shooting was reported about midnight at a McDonald's restaurant in the 2500 block of Hollywood Way, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

The wounded man, about 25-30 years of age, died at a hospital shortly after 2 a.m., Winter said. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
