Over half a million electric space heaters have been recalled over their potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard, U.S. consumer safety officials said.

The GoveeLife and Govee Smart Electric Space Heaters were sold on Amazon, TikTok Shop, and by Govee directly between September 2021 and September 2024, according to a Nov. 7 notice by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

There have been 113 reports of overheating, including seven reports of fires and one report of a minor burn injury, the CPSC said.

"Testing determined the smart electric space heaters do not comply with the voluntary industry safety standard, UL 1278, posing an overheating and fire risk from wireless control features," the recall notice states.
