Grad Standout: Bright UCLA grad with a heart of gold to study dentistry at NYU in the fall

LOS ANGELES - Future dentist and FOX 11 Grad Standout Anika Desar is grinning from ear to ear over completing her undergraduate studies in beautiful Westwood. 

The UCLA senior loves yoga, tennis, and to explore LA brunch spots with friends.

“UCLA has been my dream school since the sixth grade!  I am so happy that I was able to spend my college years in this beautiful and inspirational environment,” she said.

Not only is Desar book smart, but she also has a huge heart.

She helped raise money for the nongovernmental, nonprofit organization NGO that supplies clean drinking water to villagers in Uganda and provides education on hygiene and health. 

Desar acknowledges success starts at home, crediting strong support from her parents and a close bond with her sisters. In addition, having good friends in her corner certainly didn’t hurt.

“Thanks for all the Bella Pita runs, Diddy Riese cravings, and picnics on the iconic Janss steps,” Desar said reflecting on her time as a UCLA student. 

Desar is graduating from UCLA with a major in neuroscience and a minor in global health.  She plans to further her studies at NYU. Her message to fellow 2020 grads:

“Love you all and congrats on graduating!  We did it. Go Bruins!”
