Officers rescue dog from septic drain

A four-legged friend has a new lease on life thanks to some attentive St. Lucie County Sheriff's office deputies. Leaving a home in Fort Pierce, Florida recently, deputies heard a dog whimpering.

According to a post on the department's Facebook page, they discovered a puppy who had fallen into a septic drain.

Considering the puppy's stinky adventure, he required several baths, the agency noted. After he was all dolled up, it seems the little guy stole his rescuers heart.

The officers tried to locate the owner. When no one came forward to claim the dog, the rescuing deputy, Deputy James Gettings adopted the puppy.

"The pooped pooch was adopted by the deputy that rescued him and is now enjoying a life in the lap of luxury," the sheriff's office said.

Deputy Gettings appropriately named his new pal Puddles!

Happy life Puddles, and many thanks to the compassionate officers of St. Lucie Sheriff's Office. Check out Puddles' new life in the photos above!
